Description:
Map: Nottinghamshire. Highly coloured map with very rich detail including cities, place names and rivers. Woods and buildings are illustrated. Borders are marked in different colours. The title is presented bottom left in a cartouche decorated with figures holding bales of hay. The top left and right corners are filled with two large coats of arms. In addition the map features eight shields representing six coats of arms, four each side (including two blank). These represent Robert Ferrers, John Mowbray, Richard Duke of York, William Barkley, Henry Fitzroy and Charles Howard. Bottom right is a scale decorated with a cherub holding a pair of dividers and marked: 'Milliaria, Anglica, five duo Germanica'. Septentrio, Meridies, Oriens, Occidens (Latin for North, South, East and West) are printed around the edges.
