Description:
|
Reverse of map: This manuscript map of Lancashire is a final draft for the engraving of a copper plate by Jodocus Hondius. The printed version of the map was one of a series of 12 county maps, most likely prepared for an atlas which was later abandoned. The series was formerly known as the 'Anonymous Series' before it was accredited to William Smith in 1958.
