View of the main Exhibition room of theJohn Rylands Library. Some of the original wooden panelling has been removed to access the electrical conduits, exposing the brickwork. The stonework inside the arches and at the outer ends of the room has been cleaned. Holes have been drilled in the floor (temporarily covered in plywood) for services to the new exhibition cases. Windows have been removed for repair and cleaning. Many of the original doors have been removed and stacked for safe-keeping. Construction and restoration work is being undertaken by Linford Building Ltd, successors to the firm who worked on the original Library building in the 1890s.
