Six photographic portraits of Jevons and his associates, each with the initials of the person and the date the photograph was taken. Print 26: G. (Hugh Gilchrist, clerk at the Sydney Royal Mint); Print 27: J.M.; Print 28: W.S.J. (William Stanley Jevons); Print 29: W.S.J. (William Stanley Jevons); Print 30: J.T. (Joseph Trickett of the S.R.M.); Print 31: F.H.G. (F.H. Grundy). The photographs are in a collection of photographs of Australia, taken or compiled by William Stanley Jevons during the 1850s. Between 1854-1859 Jevons was employed as assayer at the Sydney mint and also carried out detailed social surveys of the city's slums. Grundy was a civil engineer from Manchester, not connected with the Mint, but already established in Sydney when Jevons arrived. Jevons had a reference of introduction to him from his father, a Unitarian connection.
