Description:
Collection of Fables, eighteenth century Turkish manuscript bound in boards covered in multicoloured marbled paper and with a leather backing. Written on paper, 17lines; catchwords; Naskh; red borders; gold borders on lb-2a; a simple gold headpiece on f. lb; rubrics in red; completed on 25 Rabī’ al-Ākhir 1174 (4 December 1761). The collection bears no title or the name of an author. Consists of 149 brief moralistic tales in which animals are the protagonists and each of which ends in an explanation of their meaning. Animal and human figures and others play a role in these stories; marginal corrections; marginal numbers in red from the 30th fable onwards.
