Description:
Sixteenth-century Parisian armorial binding for Henri II and Diane of Poitiers, possibly by Claude de Picques. Greek style. Full goatskin over wooden boards with grooved edges; multiple fillets and tooling to form a border; spine smooth; blind-tooled crescents at top and bottom; multiple blind-tooled letters H with crown above, and gilt-tooled fleur de lis; raised headcaps at top and bottom of spine with a double row of sewn headbands.
