Setting out the history of the army's expedition to Egypt, and demanding loyalty to Menou as the new commander-in-chief. This address is dated 5 Messidor Year VIII/23 June 1800, nine days after the assassination of Menou's predecessor as commander-in-chief, General Kléber. Completed with a seal and the following manuscript signature: pour conforme Gal Menou.
