John Rylands Library bookplate, dated 1894, with the motto "Nihill sine labore". On a background of oak leaves it contains a coat of arms, partitioned per pale, the dexter half per fess, open book above and bezant cross flory below, the sinister half gutté de poix with two invecked ordinaries each containing three bezant roundels.
