Description:
The St Christopher woodcut, 1423, is the earliest dated example of European printing. It is preserved as an endpaper of the Latin MS 366 dated 1417 from Bohemia, the 'Laus Virginis'. This represents St. Christopher carrying the infant Jesus. The Latin legend as translated is: "On whatever day you look upon the face of Christopher, on that day shall you surely not die an evil death".
