Hymnbook containing hymns in the hand of Charles Wesley and labelled "Manuscript Patriotism" (long title - "Hymns and Verses on on Modern Patriotism, and the American Rebellion and Independency etc"). The first hymn in the volume is "Hymn for His Majesty King George", the first line of which is"Why do the Christened Heathen rage". At the back of the volume is a separate section entitled "Miscellaneous Poems July 1 1785". The first hymn in this section is "Written after passing by Whitehall", the first line of which is "Unhappy Charles, mistaken and misled".
