A daguerreotype portrait of a young woman with dark hair, wearing earrings and a black necklace. The image is the third of four housed within the same locket, likely to be portraits of the same family. The round locket is gold or gold-plated with a hanging ring, both sides are decoratively engraved and the word 'Mother' is inscribed onto one side.
