An ambrotype portrait of an older man with a full beard but no moustache, wearing spectacles. The image is the first of four housed within the same locket, likely to be portraits of the same family. The locket is gold or gold-plated with a hanging ring, both sides are decoratively engraved and the word 'Mother' is inscribed onto one side.
