View of Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square and the Albert Memorial. The hall is in the Victorian Gothic revival style of architecture, with a distinctive clock tower and tall arched windows. Designed by the architect Alfred Waterhouse, the town hall was completed in 1877. The Albert Memorial, which can be seen in the square positioned in line with the main entrance to the building, is a monument to Prince Albert, Prince consort of Queen Victoria. The monument features a marble statue of Albert designed by Matthew Noble and the figure is placed within a large Medieval-style ciborium which was designed by the architect Thomas Worthington. A number of horse-drawn cabs are lined up in front of Albert Square.
