A hand-coloured daguerreotype portrait of a fair-haired, bearded young man. The gentleman is wearing a light coloured jacket and a dark neck-tie. The image is set into a round gilt locket with a hanging ring. The locket engraved on each side with decorative patterns, a town scene on one side and the name 'Julia' on the other. Opposite the image in the case facing it, is set a lock of golden hair.
