Black and white photograph: Ernest Emil Darwin Simon, Baron Simon of Wythenshawe, 1879-1960. Portrait photograph of Lord Simon who was elected as a member of the court and council for the University of Manchester in 1915 and remained a member except for a brief interlude, until his death in 1960. Simon was the most influiential lay-figure in the adminsitration of the University in the mid-Twentieth century; he was University treasurer 1932-1941, and Chairman of Council, 1941-1957.
