Description:
|
The letter is in two sections. The first section is written by G. Gunning and is concerned with Hamilton's visit to the Gunning family. The second section is written by Hamilton from the Gunning's family home in Horton in which she writes of her pleasant welcome and the beautiful surrounds but still wishes she was with her. Hamilton saw Kerr (doctor, see HAM/1/8/4) the previous day and he asked that she advise Gunning to have the tooth that is painful for her drawn out as he does not see it as proper for her to use laudanum and is she lost 'rest by suffering pain it might bring on your old complaints'. The letter continues with news of Lady Wake and of a ball that Gunning attended.
