Description:
The words ' Edward 3 ' appear in the top margin. There is a small hole in the parchment. King Edward declares himself King of France, and introduces new coinage. Red rubrication and a space for a decorated or illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of King Edward and France. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

loue of þe peple was turned into hate & co(~)e prayers into c(ur)syng for cause that þe co(~)e peple weren so strongly greued also þe forseyd Philip of Valeys of Fraunce had gadered to hym a grete oost & distroyed þer in hys p(ar)ties and kyngdom many of þe kynges frendes of England w(t) tounes & castells and many other of her lordshippes and many harmes shames and despites dedyn vnto þe qwene wherfore the kyng whan he herd of thes tydynges he was strongly meued and þerwyth an angred and sent diu(er)s l(et)res oure þe see to þe qwene to other þat wer hys frendes gladyng hem self in all the hast þat he myght And anon after Ester whan he had sped of al thyng that hym neded & come for he went ou(er)e see aȝeen of whos comyng the qwene & al his frendys were wondyr glad and maden mych ioy and al that wher his enemys and aȝens hym helden maden as mych sorow jn same tyme the kyng þurgh councell of hys trew leges and co(~)ceyll of his lordes þ(t) þere weryn present w(t) hym token the kyng of Fraunce name and toke & medlid þe kynges armes of Fraunce quartele with þe armes of England and com(a)unded forthwith his goygne of gold vndyr descripcion and wrytyng of the name of Engelond and of Fraunce to be made the best that myght be that is for seyn the floren that was cl(e)pe the nobyl prys of vj s and viij d of sterlinges & þe half noble of value of iij s. iiij d. and the ferthyng of value of xx d. How kyng Edeward come to þe Scluys & descomfited al the power of Fraunce in the [...] havene. // Cap(o) CC xxvj.
