Description:
The words 'Edward 2' are written in the top margin. The tale of how Sir Roger Mortimer escapes from the Tower of London by getting the guards drunk. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' T ' introduce the tale of how Queen Isabell goes into France to try to make peace between King Edward, her husband and the King of France, her brother. Line 15 contains a scribal error, repetition of the word 'same'. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

brake out of þ(e) tour of Londou(~) and in(~)þis manere S(ir) Roger þe forsaide herde þat he shulde ben drawe and honged at Londou(~) in þ(e) morewen aft(er) sent Laurenc(e) day: and on þ(e) day bifore he helde a faire feste in þe tour of Londou(~) and þo was S(ir) Stephene Seg(ra)ue constable of Londou(~) and manye grete men w(t) him // And whanne þey shulde sopene þe forsaide Stephene sente for alle þ(e) officers of þ(e) Tour and þey come and sopede w(t) him and whanne þey shulde take here leue of him: a squyer þ(t) me callede Stephene þ(t) was ful p(ri)uee with þe forsaide Rog(er) þorugh hire counceil ȝaf ham alle such a drink þ(t) þe leste of ham alle slepte .ij. day es and .ij. nyght and in þe mene tyme he scapede away by wat(er) þat is to seyn by þe Thamyse and went ouer þe see and helde him in ff(ra)unce wherfore þe king was sor(e) annoyed and þo pulte þe same Same Stephene out of his constabelrye.
