The words ' Edward 2 ' are written in the top margin. The tale of how the Spensers are exiled from England, and how the elder Hugh Spenser curses his son. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

Bartholomev of Badelesmore þ(t) was þ(e) king(es) Styward þat þe king had sent to Shirbo(ur)ne in Elmede to þe Erl of Lancastr(e) and to alle þ(t) w(t) him wer(e) for to trete of accorde þat him alliede to þe Barouns and come w(t) þ(t) co(~)panye and S(ir) Rog(er) Dammory and S(ire) Hughe. Daudele þat had spoused þe kinges neces suster and S(ir) Gilb(er)t of Clare erl of Glouc(estr). þ(t) was queld in Scotland as bifore is saide // & þo .ij. lordes had þe .ij. parties of þe Erldom of Gloucestr(e) and S(ir) Hugh þe Spenser. þe sone had þe .iij(e). p(ar)t in his wy fes half // þe .iij(e). suster and. þo .ij. lordeȝ wente to þe ba rouns w(t) al hire poer aȝens S(ir) Hughe hire bro þ(er) in lawe and so þ(er)e come w(t) ham S(ir) Rog(er) of Clifforde. Engelond and good Engelond to almyghty god y þe bitake and þries custe þe ground and wende neuere to haue come aȝen and wepynge ful sore cursede þe time þat eu(er)e he bigat S(ire) Hughe his sone and saide for him þat he had lost Engelonde and in p(re)sence of ham þat were him aboute he ȝaf him his curse and wente ouer þe see to his lan- des // But S(ire) Hughe þe sone wolde nought gon out of Engelond but helde him in þe see and he and his com- paynye robbede .ij. dromondes bisides Sandwich and nome and bere away al þe good þ(t) was on ham þe value of forty þousand pounde
