The words ' Edward 2 ' are written in the top margin. The tale of how Scotland was interdicted by the Pope. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how, while King Edward's men besiege Berwick, the Scots secretly come into England to burn towns. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

bullis of lead vnto þe Erchebisshop of Caunt(er)bery and to þe erchebissop of ȝork þat ȝif Rob(er)t þe Brus of Scotlande wolde nought be iustified and make amendes vnto þe king of En- gelond. Edward his lord: and make amendes of his loste and his harmes þat þey had done in Engelonde. and also to resto- re þe goodes þat þey had nome(~) of holy chirche þ(t) þe sentence shulde ben p(ro)nounced þorugh al Engelonde // And whanne þe Scottes herde þis: þey wolden nouȝt lete hire malice for þe po- pes com(~)aundement wherfor(e) Rob(er)t Brus.
