The words ' Edward 2 ' are written in the top margin. The tale of how King Edward is defeated by Robert the Bruce's army at Bannockburn. A song sung by Scottish girls about King Edward is written in red. The tale of how a ribald man called John Tanner is put to death for pretending to be King Edward's son. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' A ' introduce the tale of how the town of Berwick is taken. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

of Maule þe kinges stywarde for drede wente & drenched him in a fressh ryuer þat is called Bannokesbourne. wharfore þ(e) Scottis saide in rep(ro)ue and despite of king Edward for as muche þat he louede for to gon by watere and also for he was descomfited at Bannokesbourne: þ(er)fore maydenes maden a song þerof in þat cuntre of king Edwarde of Engelonde and in þis manere þey songe Maidenes of Engelond sare may ȝe mo(ur)ne: for tynt ȝe hau loste ȝo(ur)e le(~)mans at Bannokesbo(ur)ne. w(t) hevalough / what wende þ(e) king of Engelond haue get Scotland w(t) Rombilough Whanne king Edward was descomfited he was wond(er) sory and faste fledde w(t) his folc þat was left alyf and wente to Berwyk and þ(er)e helde him// And after he toke hostages þat is to witen .vij. children of þe richest of þe tou(~)n and þ(e) king wente to Londou(~)n and nome counceil of þinges þ(t) were nede ful vnto þe reaume of Engelonde // And in þe same time it bifel þat þ(er)e was in Engelond a ribaude þat me callede Joh(a)n Tann(er). and he went & saide þ(t) he was þe good king Edward(es) sone. and lete him calle Edward of Carnarifan: and þ(er)e he was take at Oxenforde: and þ(er)e he chalengede þ(er)e frere car- mes chirche þ(t) king Edward had ȝeue ham þe which chirche som tyme was þe king(es) halle // And afterward was þis Joh(a)n lad to Norh(a)mptou(~) and drawe and þ(er)e hongede for his falsnesse and er þ(t) he was dede he confessede & saide bifore alle þe folc þat þe deuel bihighte him þat he shulde be king of Engelond and þ(t) he had S(er)ued þe deuel .iij. ȝere How þe tou(~)n of Berwyk was take þorugh tresou(~) and how .ij.
