callede Aymery of ffriscombande for he shulde bere ham ouer þe see in to Gascoigne and þey come neu(er)e aȝen after wherfore it was a gret lost in to þis lande // And whanne þis Piers was so richely auauncede he bicome so prout and so stout: where of alle þe grete lordes of þe reaume had him in despite for his grete beryng. wherfore S(ire) Hen ry þe lacy erl of Nichole and S(ire) Guy. erl of Warwik þ(e) whi che goode lordes þe good king Edward chargede þ(t) Peres of Gauestou(~). shulde nouȝt come in to Engelonde for to bring his sone in to riaut // And alle þ(e) lordes of Engelond assem- blede at a certayn day at þe ffrere p(ri)chours at Londou(~) & speken of þe dishonour þat þe king dede vnto his reau- me and to his croune and so þey assentede alle bothe Erles and co(~)munes þat þ(e) forsaide Piers of Gauestou(~) shulde ben exiled out of Engelond and so it was done for he forsuore Engelonde and wente in to Jrlande and þere þe king made him chyueteyne and gou(er)nor of þ(e) lande by his co(~)missioun(~): and þ(er)e þis Piers was Chyueteyn of al þe lande and dede þ(er)e al þat him likede and hadde þ(er)e what he wolde // And þ(t) time were þe templers exilede þorugh al C(ri)stiente for enchesoun þ(t) men pulte vppon ham þat þey shulde don þing(es) aȝens þe fey and good bileue // king Edward louede Pieres of Gauestou(~). so muche þ(t) he myghte nouȝt forlete his companye and so muche þe king ȝaf and bihighte to þe peple of Engelonde þat þe exilinge of þe forsaide Pieres shulde be reuokede at Staun forde. þorugh ham þat him had exilede // wherfore Pieres of Gauestou(~) com aȝen in to Engelond and whanne he was come aȝen in to þis lande he despisede þe gretteste lordes of þis lande and callede S(ir) Rob(er)t of Clare erl of Gloucestr(e).
