The words ' Edward I ' are written in the top margin. The tale of the crowning of King Edward and of the amends that he made to the common people. Red rubrication and an illuminated initial ' T ' introduce the tale of how Prince Lewelyn offends King Edward, rises up against the King, and is subdued. The written space is c.182 x 112 mm and the script is anglicana formata.

wiþouten ony lette and whanne þis was done: king Edward dede his diligence and his mighte for to amende þe reaume & redresse þe wrong(es) in þe beste man(er)e þ(t) he mighte to þe hono(ur) of god and holy chirche. and to maigntene his hono(ur) and to amende þe noyaunce of þe co(~)mune peple. How ydoyne þ(t) was Lewelyn(es) dought(er) of Walys p(ri)nce. and Aymer þ(t) was þ(e) erles broþ(er) Mountfort wa(s) taken in þ(e) see. Ca(o) C(o). lxij(o). The ferste ȝere aftirward þe king Edwarde was crou- nede. Lewelyn. p(ri)nce of Walys sente in to ff(ra)unce to þe Erl Mountfort. þat þorugh counceil of his frendes þe Erl shulde wedde his dought(er). and þe erl. þo anysede him vp on þis þing and sente aȝen to Lewelyn and saide þ(t) he shulde sende aft(er) his doughter: and so he sente Aymer. his broþ(er) after þe damysele: and Lewelyn arraiede shippes for his doughter and for s(ir)(e). Aymer and for hire faire companye þat shulde wende with hire: and þis Lewelyn dede gret wrong for it was couenaunt þat he shulde ȝeue his dought(er) to no maner man w(t)oute counceil and consente of king Edward // And so it bifel þat a burgeys of Bristowe come in þe see wiþ wyne lade: and mette ham and ham toke with might and poer and anon þe Burgeys sente ham to þe king // // And whanne Lewelyn herde þis tidinge he was wonder wroth and eke sorweful and gan for to werre vppon þe king Edwarde and dede muche harme vnto þe Englisshe men & bete a doun þe kinges castell and bigan faste for to dest(ro)ye king Edwardes landes // And whanne tydinge come vnto king Edward of þis þing he wente in to Walys and so mu- che he dede þorugh godes g(ra)ce and his grete poer þat he drof Lewelyn vnto muche meschief þat he fley all man(er)e strengþ(e) and come and ȝelde him to king Edwarde and ȝaf him vifty þousand marc of siluer for to haue pees and toke þ(e) damysele and his al his heritage and made an obligaciou(~) to king Edward to come to his p(ar)lement .ij. times of þe ȝer // And in þe .ij(e). ȝere aft(er) þat king Edward was crouned he helde a ge
